Do you struggle to stay motivated and focused at work? If so, try these tips:

 

1) Be sociable

 

You are going to spend a lot of time with your co-workers, so you may as well try to get on with them. Be friendly with your co-workers. You don’t have to go out for beers with them but having the ability to joke around with co-workers can make a huge difference to your office morale.

 

2) Eat well

 

Good nutrition makes a huge difference to your overall wellbeing. Living on carbs and caffeine isn’t conducive to stable energy levels and health. Try to eat plenty of protein to give you a steady stream of energy throughout the day, and drink lots of water too. Eggs are a good source of protein, and a small amount of peanut butter on a bagel can give you that carb treat that you’re looking for while still supplying you with some much-needed energy.

 

3) Take breaks to protect your eyes

 

Do you suffer from dry eyes, difficulty concentrating, or sore, tired eyes as the day goes on? If so, it’s likely that you’re suffering from eye strain. You’ll be more productive and feel better if you take care of your vision. Take breaks throughout the day. Spending even a few minutes every hour doing something other than staring at the computer screen can clear your head and ward off tired eyes.

 

4) Move more

 

Sitting for long periods is not good for your health. Get up and go for a walk. Try to make walking meetings a thing in your organization. It will be good for everyone.

 

5) Grab a nap

 

Even some high-profile leaders, such as Leo Widrich of Buffer, take a nap in the afternoon. It refreshes them and makes them more productive for the last couple of hours of work.

 

6) Don’t take work home with you

 

Once you leave work, stop working. There’s no need to be chained to your emails over the weekend. Spend that time relaxing instead. Make sure your home is a place for relaxation with new furniture from Rooms to Go.

 

7) Stop multitasking

 

Instead of trying to ‘always be doing something’ at work, sit down and work for about 90 minutes, then stop and do something else. Focus on one task at a time, and break things up when your focus starts to wane.
