“ WEEK 131 / 133 – 133 WEEKS TO SUCCESS “

It’s a long convoluted e-mail message. You reply asking for clarity. They respond and it’s just creating more confusion. Don’t keep this going. It’s unproductive and ultimately frustrating as it feels like you’re two ships passing each other by and blowing their horns.

I’m one of those people that actually loves e-mails. For the most part, they’re easy to track and file away for when we need a refresher later. Regardless of how organized we may be or think we are, we will at some point end up with an inbox with five hundred unread messages, trying to filter through them all without going into the frantic, mass delete frenzy. In between rushing through a reply to a message that seems to be the latest in the thread and shooting one out on the go on your phone, typos abound, things will get miscommunicated and misinterpreted.

When this happens, try to hop on the phone or schedule a call with someone. Send back a quick recap afterwards to make sure you’re on the same page, and so both of you can keep track of what you discussed. E-mails are like instantaneous, sharable notepads, but they can never replace the importance and warmth of an in-person meeting or the familiarity of a phone call.

About:

Each week, I take a tip from Lois P. Frankel’s book, Nice Girls Still Don’t Get the Corner Office, and explore how each of these tips affect myself and other women in similar positions on the road to becoming the women we want to be. There are far and few between who are a few steps behind me, and many more who are far advanced. I found that Lois P. Frankel’s advice applied to novice, intermediates, and experts alike. It helped me see that I was already doing right, served as a reminder to keep on doing what I was doing and how to keep that momentum going. The book also showed me areas where I could improve, and gave realistic tips to jump on board. There are a total of 133 tips, and explore one tip per week in a program I call: 133 Weeks to Success.

Join the movement using the hashtag #133WeeksToSuccess with posts which are posted every #AlphaFemaleFriday.
