“ WEEK 128 / 133 – 133 WEEKS TO SUCCESS “

The New York City subways are full of advertisements, besides cartoony call-to-actions for a container for sale on Craigslist, that tell us if we see something, we should say something. Same thing goes for being in a group setting. Everyone has a different point of view, and therefore, something to contribute. Decide what you want to bring to the table, and don’t be the last to speak their piece.

If you’re uncomfortable with speaking for the sake of speaking, then don’t. Don’t speak just to make noise. Support what someone else says. Chances are that person wants or could use an ally. They could back you up in the future when you need someone to toss you a bone.

Ask questions. You could be the hardest working or most eager person in the room, but don’t think you’re the smartest. You can learn at least one thing you didn’t know from a stranger or a colleague. People love to share their knowledge and insight. Let them share.

Learn and observe. Make it a point to speak up and be noticed, to be that squeaky wheel. Take in the world around you by observing the people in it. Think of people you admire and which of their qualities you highly respect. Be inspired by them, but don’t become them. Carve your own path with the roads which they have built before you.

About:

Each week, I take a tip from Lois P. Frankel’s book, Nice Girls Still Don’t Get the Corner Office, and explore how each of these tips affect myself and other women in similar positions on the road to becoming the women we want to be. There are far and few between who are a few steps behind me, and many more who are far advanced. I found that Lois P. Frankel’s advice applied to novice, intermediates, and experts alike. It helped me see that I was already doing right, served as a reminder to keep on doing what I was doing and how to keep that momentum going. The book also showed me areas where I could improve, and gave realistic tips to jump on board. There are a total of 133 tips, and explore one tip per week in a program I call: 133 Weeks to Success.

Join the movement using the hashtag #133WeeksToSuccess with posts which are posted every #AlphaFemaleFriday.
