Week 90: Wishy-Washy Words – #AlphaFemaleFriday

“ WEEK 90 / 133 – 133 WEEKS TO SUCCESS “

There is a fine line between speaking with grace versus beating around the bush. Whether you’re telling a friend that they have a serious Snapchat addiction that needs to stop or you have to give a hard “no” to a needy client, there’s a way to break the news without completely breaking their esteem. You can and should get your point across as efficiently as possible.

We often worry about if what we’re going to say will offend someone else. There comes a point when it becomes over-worrying and overthinking which then leads to over-talking. In an effort to not offend someone, we end up wasting their time and our own time. You know you’re being wish-washy when you start saying things like, “one could say” or  “my thought here is”, and it takes another sixty seconds—or sentences—before we get to the point.

If you’re looking for someone’s approval or expertise, simply ask them for the greenlight or their insight. There’s no need to sit there and big for it. The fact is that if they’re in the kind of position or situation where you’re asking them for something, you shouldn’t waste either of your time on pleasantries. Our thoughts lead to our words, and our words lead to our intentions and our actions. Choose your thoughts and words intelligently and your goals and results will follow suit.

About:

Each week, I take a tip from Lois P. Frankel’s book, Nice Girls Still Don’t Get the Corner Office, and explore how each of these tips affect myself and other women in similar positions on the road to becoming the women we want to be. There are far and few between who are a few steps behind me, and many more who are far advanced. I found that Lois P. Frankel’s advice applied to novice, intermediates, and experts alike. It helped me see that I was already doing right, served as a reminder to keep on doing what I was doing and how to keep that momentum going. The book also showed me areas where I could improve, and gave realistic tips to jump on board. There are a total of 133 tips, and explore one tip per week in a program I call: 133 Weeks to Success.

Join the movement using the hashtag #133WeeksToSuccess with posts which are posted every #AlphaFemaleFriday.
