Week 59: 80% Perfection- #AlphaFemaleFriday

“ WEEK 59 / 133 – 133 WEEKS TO SUCCESS ”

I used to think that taking a step back and getting a breath of fresh air was just a saying. Now that I’ve been on the daily grind, I realize that it actually helps to literally take a step back and get a breath of fresh air. If you’re trying to solve a problem and you keep trying to work on solving the problem over and over again, chances are that the method you are trying just isn’t working. It helps, and is actually more productive, to take a break and tackle the problem when you’re fresh.

No matter how quick, smart, witty, efficient, and well-liked you are, you will never been 100% perfect. In fact, you shouldn’t even aim for pure perfection, because besides it being an impossible goal, it is also an exhausting, soul-sucking, and time-sucking goal. Aim for 80% perfection. Do everything with passion, enthusiasm, determination, and drive, but know that you cannot do it all at once.

Aiming for 80% perfection is in line with the 80/20 rule. Do you want to do 20% of the work with 80% effort, or would you rather do 80% of the work with 20% of the effort? Using my psychic prowess, I can sense that it would be the latter. The world will continue to spin and the sun will rise, and you can accomplish the other 20% of your goals after you complete the first 80%.

About:

Each week, I take a tip from Lois P. Frankel’s book, Nice Girls Still Don’t Get the Corner Office, and explore how each of these tips affect myself and other women in similar positions on the road to becoming the women we want to be. There are far and few between who are a few steps behind me, and many more who are far advanced. I found that Lois P. Frankel’s advice applied to novice, intermediates, and experts alike. It helped me see that I was already doing right, served as a reminder to keep on doing what I was doing and how to keep that momentum going. The book also showed me areas where I could improve, and gave realistic tips to jump on board. There are a total of 133 tips, and explore one tip per week in a program I call: 133 Weeks to Success.

Join the movement using the hashtag #133WeeksToSuccess with posts which are posted every #AlphaFemaleFriday.
