Week 44: Work Life Integration – #AlphaFemaleFriday

“ WEEK 44 / 133 – 133 WEEKS TO SUCCESS ”

Work Life Balance is a lie. Anything you care deeply about and anything worth doing will deeply put your life out of balance. The term Work Life Integration is far more accurate. When it comes to the idea of having it all, the truth is that you can. That’s why I began the idea of creating Alpha Female Society. I wanted to be a part of that group of women, and to create a safe space for those women, who believed, just as I do, that you do not have to always pick having a career versus having a family.

The harsher truth is that while you can have it all, you can’t have it all at once. Think of the different stages of life. When you are a child, you have all the time, all the energy, but no money of your own. Then, when you become an adult, you have energy and money now, but you just feel like you don’t have time. Finally, as you grow older, you find out that while you have earned all your money and now have all the time to spare, you no longer have any energy.

The key point here is to embrace and appreciate every phase of your life. In order to succeed in our careers and feel fulfilled in our own daily lives, we must not be too hard on ourselves in our quest to achieving the perfect balance. There is no perfect balance. There is only the present moment. Savor it.

Learn how to forgive yourself. Know when to take a step back and ask for help. Have reasonable expectations for yourself when rushing to complete an assignment. Don’t allow others to dictate how you should spend your time. This life is yours.

About:

Each week, I take a tip from Lois P. Frankel’s book, Nice Girls Still Don’t Get the Corner Office, and explore how each of these tips affect myself and other women in similar positions on the road to becoming the women we want to be. There are far and few between who are a few steps behind me, and many more who are far advanced. I found that Lois P. Frankel’s advice applied to novice, intermediates, and experts alike. It helped me see that I was already doing right, served as a reminder to keep on doing what I was doing and how to keep that momentum going. The book also showed me areas where I could improve, and gave realistic tips to jump on board. There are a total of 133 tips, and explore one tip per week in a program I call: 133 Weeks to Success.

Join the movement using the hashtag #133WeeksToSuccess with posts which are posted every #AlphaFemaleFriday.
